Agent Terui.

As I am certain you have observed, Bowser Koopa has kidnapped one Ms. Sari Sumdac.

He has challenged the aligned forces of good to a Race for her freedom.

Looking across the DATS duty roster, I believe you may be among the best suited to earning Ms. Sumdac her freedom.

What do you say, Agent? Can you burn some rubber?

A race?

Seriously?

Date: 2011-09-27 04:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xtrnlmonologue.livejournal.com
A race.

With one of several universes' most well-known villains.

A recognised hostile whom has been more or less untouchable.

We want to win this race, Agent Terui.

Well, certainly. It just seems a bit...

Odd?

Ridiculous.

...well, there was how you told me you got the Trial Memory...

...shut up.

Ridiculous it may be.

But those are the fact as we've been presented with them, and Bowser is known for his love of games of any sort.

I want the best, Agent Terui. Your dossier says you're the best.

Hn. I could, certainly, if it'll help, but...

What sort of race IS it?

From: [identity profile] xtrnlmonologue.livejournal.com
Agent Terui, you're not inspiring much confidence in me with wishy-washy statements like that.

I asked you to race for me, and you're less than enthusiastic. Do I need to find someone else? Are you not up to the job?

Don't question me! Of course I can do it.

It still doesn't change my question.

We shall see.

According to Agent Sonic, the race will be a 150cc cart race on an undefined track, with unknown hazards, and very loosely defined rules.

From: [identity profile] rider-accel.livejournal.com
...

I'm sorry.

Did you just say a cart race?

Date: 2011-09-28 04:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xtrnlmonologue.livejournal.com
Did I speak unclearly? Are you having trouble processing my words?

One Hundred and Fifty CC Cart Race. In potentially hostile territory. With what are bound to be hazards and cheating.

As the Americans used to say, Agent Terui, WELCOME TO FLAVOR COUNTRY.

How loosely are we talking on these rules?

Re: 2/2

From: [identity profile] xtrnlmonologue.livejournal.com
Agent Sonic reported the use of low yield explosives, tar slicks, ballistic kamemon shells, and full contact between the carts, as well as outside interference by spectators and natural course hazards.

Given how we are not certain where the race will be taking place, I cannot speak to that last one.

Still, I think this is something I can work with, regardless of the ... vehicle at hand.

Fantastic.

I can't believe I'm saying this...

We have a cart prepared for you to practice with.

You should make certain it is equipped to carry something far heavier than just me, for the record.

I will contact agents Eikichi and Douglas in the motor pool. It should not take long.

Good.

Is there anyone else I should know about that looks as if they'll be participating?

Date: 2011-09-28 05:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xtrnlmonologue.livejournal.com
King Bowser himself, as well as one of his lieutenants.

We have confirmation that Haku Eikichi's husband will be taking part in this, as well as the Autobot Bulkhead. ... I am really not certain how that will work.

Otherwise, he seems to be controlling the sign up roster. We have various unaligned sorts volunteering, but we don't know whether or not they'll be racing.

Date: 2011-09-28 05:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rider-accel.livejournal.com
Eikichi's husband could at least be part in our favor, perhaps.

[Locked]

Though I have concerns about Bulkhead in this situation. I have a fairly good grasp of what happens when your motivation blinds you.

I share your concern, but there is an old joke that fits here.

What do you give a rampaging bull elephant?

The answer is... Whatever it wants.

I do not believe that we could force Bulkhead to sit this one out even if we deployed the heavy division against him.

I don't deny that.

I am merely hoping he can be used to our advantage, rather than Bowser set him up to be our detriment.

I plan to steer him towards an explosive before it detonates, and make sure that he knows where Bowser is at all times.

A race for this woman's freedom? What is the point of such a thing?

... you're new to this world, aren't you?

How is the span of time I have occupied this world relevant to my question?

Date: 2011-09-28 01:23 pm (UTC)

Because it shows that you really don't get this world. At all.

From: [identity profile] godkingillyria.livejournal.com
I have been to many worlds. Traveled further than you can comprehend. To say I do not understand this world is arrogance. The foolish actions of mortals I do not "get" as you put it.

The point is that Bowser has a sizeable army, and if he wants to offer a peaceful means of recovering Ms. Sumdac, I do not intend to overlook it.

Date: 2011-09-28 06:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godkingillyria.livejournal.com
Does the Kingdom of DATS not have it's own army?

Date: 2011-09-28 08:12 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xtrnlmonologue.livejournal.com
We have quality soldiers.

Bowser has quantity. And better equipment for all of his troops.

We could certainly win a fight, but we would suffer severe casualties.

Date: 2011-09-28 08:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godkingillyria.livejournal.com
Then a greater army is needed. However I see why you would wish to send a soldier into his challenge. I am sure you have chosen well.

Commander Ivan you do know that... It's Mario Kart that you're planning on having Agent Terui partake in?

From: [identity profile] xtrnlmonologue.livejournal.com
The thought had crossed my mind.

Do you have any thought on how we can use this to our advantage, Agent *DATA TRANSMISSION ERROR*

Date: 2011-09-28 05:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] onlysaneguy.livejournal.com
Invest in anything fire proof for Agent Terui to wear, since the majority of Koopa's... I mean Bowser's stages consisted of lava levels. He could try to recreate that here for this.

[he's... going to ignore that transmission error for now, sigh.]

Ah, it's been a while. [Yanno, since he played video games and stuff when he was a kid, and he's 19 now] Really the only advice is "Don't give a crap about anyone else except yourself" with this.
